Xborder 1.0, S11

It has been some twenty years since the s11 protests against the World Economic Forum in Melbourne.

Here are some of my writings, articles from the xborder site and flyers, from that year, when xborder (or what I call xborder 1.0) was founded. Meant to be compiled some time in January, but a lot of things going on this year. Reading back, they illustrate some of the stakes in the earliest debates around descriptions of the protests as “anti-globalisation.”

The immediate post-s11 texts would be “Habeas Corpus” (Arena Magazine, October-November 2001) and “The Barbed End of Human Rights” (Overland 165, 2001) [Republished in Borderlands 2:1, 2003.]
